Concert: Using Music to Fight Women’s Cancer

Wendy’s Warriors
Wendy Ericsson is a 25+ year member of Trinity and sings in Daybreak, Trinity’s contemporary choir.  She’s a survivor of advanced stage endometrial cancer and currently receiving her 3rd round of chemotherapy.

After her initial surgery and chemotherapy, Wendy learned about the Foundation for Women’s Cancer and their national “Race to End Women’s Cancer” held every November in Washington DC.  This race attracts over 20,000 people committed to fighting gynecologic cancer.

Wendy, together with her niece Lindsay, created a team of over 20 people, Wendy’s Warriors, who are all dedicated to supporting this cause by raising funds for the Foundation at this event.

In 2016, Wendy’s Warriors raised over $15,500!  For the past two years, this team has placed among the top five fundraising teams in the country.

In recognition of her leadership and efforts in support of this cause, the Foundation has named Wendy a National Co-Chair for the 2017 race.

Wendy’s Warblers: Using Music to Fight Women’s Cancer

Every year more than 107,000 women are diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer: Every 5 minutes, a woman will be told they have ovarian, endometrial, cervical, or another “below the belt” cancer. These cancers cause over 31,500 deaths per year!  Ovarian cancer is particularly deadly, as 85% of women aren’t diagnosed until they have late stage disease and, sadly, more than 2/3 of those women will die.

So, what’s one thing you can do to fight against these deadly diseases??  Come to a fun concert!!

Warbling for Wendy’s Warriors will be sponsored by Wendy’s Warriors, a group of women (and the men in their lives) who have joined together to raise money for the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.  The Foundation’s work focuses on supporting medical research, educating patients and caregivers, and promoting awareness of these deadly cancers.

The concert will feature performances by two fantastic local singing groups:

  • Bit O’ HarmonyBit O’ Harmony is a barbershop quartet from the North Pennsmen. Ken, Rich and Tom have been singing together for seven years. In December 2016 Sean joined as the lead and Bit O’ Harmony quartet was born! Their extensive repertoire consists of barbershop standards, songs from musicals, religious repertoire and even a few Disney songs! From corporate gatherings to anniversary and birthday celebrations to singing valentines, they guarantee an enjoyable experience!
  • “Girls Night Out“ – This group was formed in 2004 when several members of the Norristown Chorale’s Chamber Singers decided to start a Christmas caroling group. They soon evolved into a lively musical ensemble that has performed throughout the region at social clubs, retirement communities, church services, holiday events, and weddings. Their goal is to share with others a love of music and the messages found in song.

Come enjoy a fun night for a great cause:
