Sharing Easter with Neighbors – Carole Kriebel

The Invitation we sent to our neighbors:

Dear Neighbors,

Like us, I’m guessing you are missing time with your families, especially during this Easter season. And, like us, you may be “doing church” via the internet as the doors of your Community of Faith are closed.

It occurred to me that perhaps…wearing masks and keeping socially distant….for those interested, we could gather on Easter Sunday in the cul-de-sac at noon for a shout out…

“Christ is risen. Alleluia
Christ is risen. Alleluia
Christ is risen. Alleluia.
Christ is risen, indeed! ALLELUIA!”
Any suggestions are welcome…I look forward to hearing from you.  Stay well… Carole

What began as come and join in “Alleluia, Christ is Risen” turned into a printed worship guide, two hymns led by our neighbor’s mother and daughter; guitar accompaniment by another neighbor, gospel reading, prayers and finally my time to lead “Christ is Risen.” Our different traditions didn’t matter. We were 8 families coming together to praise Christ. And, no, we did not take an offering.

Who knew that this would be a meaningful endeavor? The Holy Spirit blesses us once again.
