Harvest Home Food Drive

October 5 - October 6

Once again, we will celebrate the Harvest season, sharing our bountiful blessings by collecting food donations – this year on October 5 and 6.

The Harvest Home tradition dates to antiquity in the British Isles and found its way into many church traditions over the years. Today for some, the tradition may seem dated because we live in less rural neighborhoods than before, and fewer farms exist now.

However, we still drive by farms throughout Montgomery County, for which the harvest season is crucial to their survival as they diligently work to put vegetables like corn on the cob on our dinner tables. Who doesn’t enjoy a visit to Merrymead or Freddy Hill? Harvest Home is a way of pausing to remember what farmers do for us!

So, we too join with farmers in the harvest season by collecting non-perishables in a “harvest of goods” to share with others in need. Beginning in September, but especially on the October dates, please donate non-perishable by placing them in the white bins labeled “Harvest Home” in the lobby. From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on October 6 you may also drop off your donations at the Circle Drive.

The donations will be given to Manna on Main Street, the Keystone Opportunity Center and the food pantry at United Lutheran Seminary. The following items are always needed: soups, canned meats and fruits, rice, canned vegetables, tomato products, cookie mix, beans, pasta items, spices, breakfast items, and dessert items. Other requested items include juices, peanut butter, jelly and salad dressings.

Monetary donations to Harvest Home are always welcome. Use our website trinitylansdale.com or drop off or mail a donation to Trinity. Make sure you indicate “Harvest Home” on your envelope. Thank you for your generosity!
